Description:
The post holder will be a member of the Maintenance Team responsible for carrying out day-to-day repairs and statutory Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) for buildings within the Trust by using specialist knowledge and skills gained from training, experience and appropriate qualifications; to service, maintain and support on hospital mechanical engineering installations.
The post holder will carry out their duties in an efficient manner with full awareness,
understanding and compliance with the Trust’s Health & Safety and Infection Control Policies and Procedures and in particular the Maintenance Department’s safe systems of work and working practices which includes being aware of Permits to Work and when they need to be used.
The Estates department is an integral part of the Estates and Facilities directorate which also incorporates the Catering, Domestic, Portering, Transport, EBME, Post room, Housekeeping, Accommodation and Capital teams.
The team is responsible for ensuring the PAH site is safe and in good working order for our patients, staff and visitors.
The primary responsibility will involve the maintenance of the mechanical infrastructure, within buildings, plant and equipment
The post holder will be required to have knowledge of mechanical services and undertake work on steam, heating, Domestic Hot Water (DHW), Chiller Water Systems (CWS), waste services and medical gas systems, including all ancillary equipment, and any other systems as would be appropriate to the role.
To gain knowledge of mechanical installations in new developments as they are placed into service
To diagnose and identify faults in mechanical installations, plant and equipment and using knowledge and experience resolve the problem
Fault finding, inspection and repair of mechanical plant and equipment, heating plant and equipment and any elements necessary to provide statutory maintenance compliance of the built environment and will involve either working alone or in teams
To understand the function and operation of the Building Management System (BMS) and to resolve faults or improve efficiencies As directed by their line manager the post holder may be required to install new
mechanical installations in accordance with current standards, complete the relevant test & inspections and the applicable certificates for the installatio
