JOB DESCRIPTION

Division: Legal and Clerk’s Services

Initial Reporting Location: 199 Larch Street
Job Status: Permanent Position (Bilingual - English/French)
Affiliation: Inside Unit
Hours of Work: 70 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: No
Range of Pay: Group 11 - $29.96 to $37.23 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of Community College Diploma in Law Clerk Program or equivalent.
  • Over one (1) year and up to and including two and one half (2½) years of related court reporting/monitoring, legal or Provincial Offences experience.
  • Knowledge of legislation and court processes and proceedings including protocol and etiquette with the ability to exercise discretion, judgement, and diplomacy.
  • Exceptional attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Exceptional organization skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, high volume, public and formal environment.
  • Ability to produce certified transcripts in accordance with the Transcription and Procedures Manual.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate and proven ability related to computer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment (e.g., word processing, information input and retrieval on electronic database system, including Integrated Court Offences Network (ICON).
  • Proficiency in the use of the ZOOM or other virtual meeting web applications.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent use of French; verbally and in writing.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance, and former employment history.
  • Physical capability to operate a vehicle safely, possession of a valid driver’s licence and an acceptable driving record, will be considered an asset.
    This job is also being posted as a development opportunity. Should there be no fully qualified candidate for this position, a candidate who can be expected to meet the required qualifications within a reasonable period of time may be considered for this position as a development opportunity.
    Development opportunity range of pay: $28.69 to $34.64 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced range until the minimum qualifications have been met.
