Description:

To be responsible for maintaining an up to date expert knowledge of POCT] services to ensure consistent competency levels through annual reassessment protocols where identified. To utilise knowledge & skills for research and development in the evaluation of equipment and new methodology, contributing to the report that includes statistical analysis of data with graphical representation to aid the decision making process. To assist the PoCT Site Co-ordinator in the implementation and delivery of a cohesive service, in conjunction the clinical lead of the appropriate department. To implement the quality policy for PoCT including the agreed quality objectives.
To contribute to the implementation of UKAS standards for PoCT using the Pathology Quality Management System as established, to fulfil the quality circles and audit inherent to the ISO 15189 and ISO 22870 standards of compliance. To deputise in the absence of the PoCT Site Co-ordinator when required to do so. To assist in the action plans required resolving nonconformities that are recorded by internal and/or external audits or complaints and to ensure the completion of corrective and preventative actions that have been identified. Where delegated, to implement a Standard Operating Procedures [SOP] for the department utilising the Document Management Module of the Q-Pulse system.
To assist in the delivery of training in conjunction with the PoCT Site Co-ordinator and the PoCT Team, providing training and competency assessments of various grades of staff within the Trust in accordance with ISO 15189 . This includes completion of the training and competency assessment documents and assisting in the gathering of evidence for staff. To comply with Policies and Procedures commensurate to role. To conduct day-to-day operations for PoCT.
This will include ensuring monitoring and review of equipment, its maintenance, performance monitoring and EQA is completed and recorded in a timely way. In the absence of the PoCT Site Co-ordinator ensure that there is a continuation of key services when short term staff absences occur. To implement the quality aspects of the department. Where required to provide specialist knowledge and skills in POCT for operational and technical support and advice
