You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:

  • Conducting legal research that contributes to the publication of guidance or policy documents for law enforcements and/or immigration operations;
  • Interpreting current U.S. statues, regulations, and guidance and providing legal analyses of pending legislation, proposed policies, and guidance;
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in drafting and updating law enforcement and/or immigration policies and directives;
  • Assisting in coordinating and implementing law enforcement and/or immigration policy initiatives;
  • Assisting with drafting and updating of law enforcement and/or immigration policies and directives; and
  • Developing and reviewing law enforcement and/or immigration guidance materials, resource guides, policy memoranda, policy manual sections, and policy instructions.

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:

  • Leading the coordination and implementation of law enforcement and/or immigration policy initiatives;
  • Independently drafting and updating law enforcement and/or immigration policies and directives;
  • Developing professional written materials and delivering oral briefings to leadership; and
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to address and resolve complex law enforcement and/or immigration issues that have little or no precedent.

Responsibilities:

DUTIES

As a Policy Analyst, at the full performance level, you will perform the following duties:

  • Coordinating and implementing a variety of law enforcement and immigration policy initiatives;
  • Participating in Policy Unit planning activities and recommending future law enforcement and immigration policy objectives and improvements in collaboration with the agency’s subject matter experts;
  • Drafting and editing directives, delegations of authority, memoranda of agreement, official guidance documents, and other applicable law enforcement and immigration policy documents;
  • Working closely with subject matter experts, both internal and external to office, making recommendations to managers, and preparing strategies to address and resolve issues that may have little or no precedent; and
  • Working with program representatives and external stakeholders to resolve complex and conflicting ideas and elevating controversial issues to the supervisor, as appropriate.

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
