    About the Group
    The Workplace Relations Branch works to deliver the Australian Government’s workplace relations policies and support agencies in their workplace responsibilities. The Workplace Relations Branch undertakes policy development, implementation and advice on workplace relations matters related to Commonwealth public sector employment, including enterprise bargaining, remuneration and conditions of employment.

The Remuneration Policy Team works with agencies to implement the Government’s wages policies. Responsibilities of this team include ensuring agency workplace arrangements comply with the Government policy, assisting with annual APS remuneration reporting and supporting agencies to update relevant expense related allowances through the Commonwealth Allowance Subscription Service. The team also represents the Commonwealth before the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal in setting and adjusting remuneration for members of the Australian Defence Force. Priorities for the Workplace Relations Branch include:

  • Supporting Commonwealth public sector enterprise bargaining;
  • Providing accurate and timely advice to our stakeholders;
  • Supporting implementation of Government workplace and workforce policies; and
  • Provision of policy advice to the Government on industrial matters.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking to fill a Policy Data Analyst (APS5) role in our Remuneration Policy team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a small team supporting the following main activities:

  • Management of the Commonwealth Allowance Subscription Service.
  • Development of annual APS remuneration reporting material.
  • Conduct assessments of agencies’ workplace arrangements to ensure these comply with Government policy and associated preparation of briefs supporting the Commissioner’s responsibilities under the Australian Government Public Sector Workplace Relations Policy 2023.

The APS 5 will be required to:

  • Manage the Commonwealth Allowance Subscription Service, including the management of: general administration, correspondence with agencies and updating and distributing annual allowance notices.
  • Work closely with the Commission’s Workforce Metrics team on the collection, checking, and reporting of remuneration data from APS agencies, including by providing assistance with quality assurance of data and analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of key Commission publications including an annual APS remuneration data release.
  • Use data management and visualisation software to brief the Executive on APS remuneration and inform policy development.
  • Plan and prioritise concurrent activities to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Build professional networks through engagement and collaboration with workplace relations and human resources professionals, and senior leaders from across the Commonwealth public sector.
  • Work as a ‘relationship manager’ to a number of agencies and assisting those agencies with the implementation of Government policy in their new workplace arrangements.
  • Assess agency proposals and draft instruments against Government Policy.
  • Contribute to briefs for the Commission’s Executive and the Minister, including Question Time Briefs, Senate Estimates packs and Ministerial Correspondence.
