Description:

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Polysomnograph Technician performs sleep studies for pediatric 18 months and older, adult, and geriatric patients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • FT

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates proper placement of leads and wires 10-20 setup
  • Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots all sleep equipment, as well as pulse oximetry, transcutaneous monitoring, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and CPAP/BIPAP devices during the acquisition of the sleep study
  • Titrates CPAP/BIPAP according to AASM guidelines
  • Documents technician notes every half hour
  • Scores sleep study according to AASM guidelines
  • Responds to patient requests for information
  • Completes all charges
  • Coordinates dictation, transcription, final report, archiving, filing, and mailing process for sleep studies
  • Maintains inventory control
  • Completes yearly CME requirements
  • Participates in Performance Improvement
  • Achieves Interscoring reliability greater than 85 percent
  • Assists with administrative tasks when needed
