Description:
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Polysomnograph Technician performs sleep studies for pediatric 18 months and older, adult, and geriatric patients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:
- FT
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates proper placement of leads and wires 10-20 setup
- Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots all sleep equipment, as well as pulse oximetry, transcutaneous monitoring, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and CPAP/BIPAP devices during the acquisition of the sleep study
- Titrates CPAP/BIPAP according to AASM guidelines
- Documents technician notes every half hour
- Scores sleep study according to AASM guidelines
- Responds to patient requests for information
- Completes all charges
- Coordinates dictation, transcription, final report, archiving, filing, and mailing process for sleep studies
- Maintains inventory control
- Completes yearly CME requirements
- Participates in Performance Improvement
- Achieves Interscoring reliability greater than 85 percent
- Assists with administrative tasks when needed
