MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of design related experience

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates proficiency with LBYD’s design software
  • Advanced understanding of CADD and plans development
  • Shown ability and aptitude to complete tasks working with multiple managers
  • Understands the tasks required to complete the production of a plan set
  • Basic understanding of Pool Design elements including pumps, piping, filtration, structural wall/floor detailing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing coordination.
  • Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles
  • Can produce and assemble a complete set of drawings that follow LBYD and industry drawing standards resulting in a complete and coherent plan set
  • Has a thorough understanding of the project process and has working knowledge of most aspects of LBYD’s civil engineering design

Responsibilities:

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Pool Designer works in a collaborative team environment under the supervision of more senior drafter and engineers. The Designer position should be capable of assembling individual task assignments into complete plan sets and reports. The designer may periodically be assigned to Civil and Structural engineering drafting as workload allows.
The Pool Designer will generally work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and will generally be assigned projects instead of individual tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and identify governing criteria, codes, guides and best practices
  • Review and understanding of project design drawings and specifications (Architectural, Structural, Civil, Electrical, etc.)
  • Pool Layout, sizing and specifying pump, piping, filtration and associated systems.
  • Equipment layout and sizing.
  • Specifying pool and filtration systems including skimmers and associated piping systems.
  • Communication with client to understand project requirements.
  • Assist in preparing project drawings, exhibits and design documents using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Assist in engineering evaluations, reports, analyses and designs for existing and new facilities and other related opportunities
  • Prepare various permit applications and assist with calculations.
  • Participate in site field investigations and client / user interviews to identify project needs, constraints, and opportunities
  • Confers with management on all major project decisions such as client contact, design, construction cost, and schedule
  • Resolve day-to-day problems, mostly of a technical nature

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May act as technical advisor to design engineers assigned to the project, as determined by the Project Manager
  • May be assigned to manage small projects
  • May be asked to travel to out of town assignments
