Description:

Our client, a leader in the Energy sector has an immediate requirement for an experienced Portfolio Assurance Analyst to join the team.
This contract will commence ASAP for an initial period of 4 months with extensions.
The successful candidate will have either a Project Management, Business or Information Technology qualification. You will have experience in the Energy or Utilities sector and have experience supporting Project Managers at high level, autonomously.
The Portfolio Assurance Analyst holds a pivotal role in ensuring and enabling the successful delivery of IT programs and projects that are part of a large IT portfolio of programs.
You will provide specialist advice and support for IT Program and Project Management, while also assuming responsibility for overseeing project gating procedures. You will also support the continuous improvement of the portfolio, program and project management frameworks, procedures, and gating.
The role collaborates with program and project managers, portfolio managers, and other stakeholders to provide guidance, advice, and coaching on portfolio assurance requirements, standards, and methodologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist advice towards the development and refinement of project management best practices.
  • Implement a comprehensive project gating process to assess project readiness at key milestones, ensuring that projects progress only when they meet predefined criteria, such as scope definition, resource allocation, and compliance with frameworks.
  • Oversee IT gating on behalf of Business IT management to ensure IT projects align with the IT program & project management frameworks and procedures.
  • Educate and coach project teams on gating requirements, associated frameworks, and procedural guidelines, emphasising the importance of compliance at each stage of the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in project reviews and other associated assurance activities either with or behalf the Program and Project Management team.
  • Assume responsibility for overseeing project gating procedures, ensuring that they are robust, clear, and effective in facilitating project progression while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Prepare comprehensive reporting on behalf of Business IT and the IT portfolio. This includes but is not limited to financial reporting, program and project reporting and reporting relevant to the end of month, quarter, or year.

About you:

  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • Experience in managing, analysing, and reporting on the quality assurance function of a program delivery environment.
  • Governance and compliance experience
  • Significant experience in project compliance, project management, or a related role, with a proven track record of ensuring projects comply with frameworks and procedures.
  • Experience with project management principles, methodologies: PMI, Agile, PRINCE2
  • Experience and a commitment to continuous improvement, with experience in refining compliance processes, frameworks, and procedures based on lessons learned and evolving standards.
  • Experience in conducting compliance audits and quality assurance reviews, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment and mitigation strategies, including the ability to identify compliance risks and develop plans to address them.
