Description:
Job Introduction
Are you someone who thrives on making a real, positive impact supporting children and young people? Opportunities to start your positive behaviour support career!
As part of small specialist team, you will have strong skills and experience in supporting Children and young people with complex presentations, including severe learning disabilities, who can exhibit significant behaviours that challenge.
Working intensively with families, carers and the multidisciplinary team around the child, you will aim to improve the well-being of the child aiming to decrease their need to use negative behaviours to get their needs met. You will also work closely with colleagues in East Sussex County Council Children’s Care Homes and services, to support behavioural approaches and risk management.
As part of an existing team of experienced staff, you will work alongside families and professionals in drawing up and delivering bespoke behaviour plans. This will involve behaviour analysis, skills teaching and modelling approaches with families and carers. You will work flexibly, often out of hours so that you can be there when behaviours are happening.
We are looking for a skilled practitioner, with experience of working with highly complex children and their families and the confidence to help those with behavioural issues. As well as a genuine interest in this area, you’ll also bring sound observation and evaluation skills and the ability to engage effectively with children and young people who may have barriers to communication.
On completion of Probationary year candidates will be offered the chance to complete a level 5 professional diploma in Positive Behaviour Support.
The team is based in Eastbourne but works dynamically across the whole of the county. You will need to be physically agile, have your own car and hold a valid driving licence.
