Description:

JOIN THE HJF TEAM!

The Shafi laboratory at the Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) is seeking a highly motivated Post-Baccalaureate Researcher with strong interest in translational cancer biology research to join a dynamic research team. Current projects focus on nuclear receptor signaling on tumor progression, cancer biology, circadian dysfunction, DNA damage repair, and cell cycle deregulation. Specific projects are aimed at elucidating the role of CBP/p300 to promote lethal cancers by providing first-in-field analysis of tumor associated CBP/p300 and the impact of targeting this dual function molecule in human disease. Additional projects are focused on discerning how circadian factor regulation impacts therapeutic resistance and delineating the role of CRY1 mediating DNA repair.
The Post-Baccalaureate will be responsible for performing research in collaboration with a research team consisting of scientific and clinical investigators. Candidates should have interests in molecular biology and in identifying novel ways to attenuate cancer signaling pathways. Incumbent exercises technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Performs limited analysis and interpretation of results. Career building opportunities include development of scientific presentation, technical research skills, experimental design, and writing skills.
This position will be in support of the Murtha Cancer Center Research Program (MCCRP) and the Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) located at the Rockledge Offices in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to the MCCRP and CPDR.
About CPDR:
CPDR is an interdisciplinary translational prostate cancer research program of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) Department of Surgery and the John P. Murtha Cancer Center Research Program at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Established in 1992 (Public Law 102-172), CPDR’s mission is fulfilled primarily through its three principal programs: (1) the Clinical Translational Research Center; (2) the Basic Science Research Program, and (3) the Multicenter National Prostate Cancer Database to encompass its clinical research work with participating military medical centers.
