Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Applications are invited for the post of Post-Doctoral Researcher to join the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics, based at the School of Computer Science & I.T., University College Cork, Ireland. The appointed candidate will work on a project in supply chain management, with a large inventory control component. We shall apply Deep Reinforcement Learning to the problem and also implement at least one classical approach (such as stochastic integer programming) for comparison. The project is a collaboration with Sony who will provide us with real-world data and insight into current practices, work with us on Reinforcement Learning methods such as Proximal Policy Optimisation and host the researcher for short visits. It is an opportunity to work in a world-class research institute on applying state-of-the-art machine learning methods to an industrial problem.
Ideally the candidate should have a background in reinforcement learning, especially involving neural networks, and some knowledge of optimisation methods such as integer programming.
PLEASE NOTE THAT AN APPOINTMENT TO POSTS ADVERTISED WILL BE DEPENDENT ON UNIVERSITY APPROVAL, TOGETHER WITH THE TERMS OF THE EMPLOYMENT CONTROL FRAMEWORK FOR THE HIGHER EDUCATION SECTOR.
