SYDNEY LOCAL HEALTH DISTRICT (SLHD) IS SEEKING A POST GRADUATE FELLOW TO JOIN OUR TEAM AT THE ROYAL PRINCE ALFRED HOSPITAL!

We are looking for a Post Graduate Fellow in Radiology Body Imaging! The purpose of the Post Graduate Fellow in Radiology Body Imaging is to provide additional training to a qualified Radiologist to develop subspecialty expertise in body imaging. The Fellowship will further develop core imaging skills through exposure to complex and high-end body imaging reporting and all associated clinical duties undertaken in RPA Radiology. The Body Imaging PGF will work closely with a range of speciality services including liver and renal transplantation, specialised surgical services and comprehensive oncology (surgical and medical) services across RPA Radiology; RPA Hospital and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse (Lifehouse). The position will provide diagnostic imaging services, including reporting and participation in Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and will also participate in clinical support roles including teaching of junior medical staff, quality assurance activities and research.

The Body Imaging PGF will be based at RPA Radiology and will be an important member of the MDT Radiology team working to collaboratively deliver high-quality and efficient Radiology services. The day-to-day responsibilities will be reporting body imaging specialty studies including MRI, CT and ultrasound (US) with prioritisation of clinically urgent and inpatient examinations. Body imaging specific MDT rotations will be allocated to the position to optimise exposure and cater to specialist interest. The role involves:

  • Four clinical reporting days per week spread across the different modalities of MRI, CT and US and rotating between RPA Radiology services at RPA Hospital and Lifehouse.
  • One half day per week of preparation and participation for MDT, Departmental & Educational Meetings.
  • One half day per week of participation in quality assurance activity and/or research activities. A conference presentation, publication acceptance or clinical quality assurance initiative/audit completion will be expected by the end of the fellowship.
  • Participation in the Department Diagnostic ‘on call’ roster.

Individual interest in a specific area of the subspecialty, in conjunction with RPA Radiology service requirements, will be considered in the allocation of duties.
The Post Graduate Fellow will provide high quality clinical care, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Radiology Body Imaging at the level of a Post Graduate Fellow, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Radiology Department and RPA Hospital as required. They will ensure high standards of professional performance and contribute to an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award. (Note: Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship prior to, or within three months of the expected commencement date, may be considered.)
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
