Description:

Are you a Pharmacist who has recently joined the register? Or looking to take the first step into hospital pharmacy? Are you looking for the opportunity to receive comprehensive clinical training in a large acute teaching hospital, while being given the opportunity to progress to a Band 7 post? If yes, then Hull University Teaching Hospital could be the right place for you to develop your skills and progress your career.
We welcome applications from trainee pharmacists, who hope to join the register in 2024.
We are offering successful candidates a fully integrated programme that will allow you to progress from a Band 6 post registration pharmacist to a band 7 clinical pharmacist following completion of a set training requirement and submission of a portfolio. The opportunity to undertake a prescribing qualification and begin to practice as a non-medical prescriber is also incorporated into this programme.

The Pharmacy team is both ambitious and motivated, focusing our work around the best interests of our patients and continually striving to improve the services we offer. Our team ranges from specialist rotational pharmacists to consultant pharmacists, who will contribute to an engaging learning process. Currently some of the key projects include:

  • Expansion of Pharmacist prescribing
  • New ways of working to support safe & effective discharge
  • Introduction of electronic prescribing

As a post-registration pharmacist you will have named mentors, who will support you throughout your journey.
You will be supported to undertake a comprehensive foundation level training program, currently this consists of studying for the Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice at the University of Bradford and in-house practice supervision and mentoring.
This post is a progression post and upon completion of certain training requirements (currently year one of the Diploma) and successful submission of a portfolio of evidence you will progress to become a Band 7 clinical pharmacist, working in specialist rotations and undertaking your prescribing qualification.
Post-registration pharmacists provide a clinical pharmacy service to allocated wards and offer advice to medical, nursing, and patients on all aspects of the safe & effective use of medicines. This includes facilitating reconciliation, discharge planning and patient counselling. The team has a wide range of qualified staff including technicians who will assist you in your day to day role, as well as assistants and apprentices who provide additional support to wards and patients.
You must be a registered pharmacist or a trainee pharmacist who will be eligible to register with the GPhC before starting in post.
This post includes weekend and bank holiday working, and will include participation in the on call service.
