Description:
Are you interested in pursuing a career within diet-microbiome interactions and metabolomics? Are you good at working independently, but also enjoy being part of an ambitious and collaborating team? Then you might be our new postdoc! The position is to be filled by 1 August 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The position is affiliated to two projects: 1) The project PRIMA (Personalized dietary Recommendations based on the Interaction between diet, Microbiome and Abiotic conditions in the gut) funded by the Challenge Programme under the Novo Nordisk Foundation. This project is a cross-disciplinary effort involving top research environments in Denmark and Belgium. The overall aim of the project is to develop personal and improved dietary recommendations based on knowledge about the intestinal environment in a given individual. Furthermore, the candidate will be involved in 2) the project FORTIFY (Bifidobacterium-derived peptides to fortify the intestinal mucosa in early life) funded by the Biocodex Microbiota Foundation. This project is a cross-disciplinary effort involving research teams across Denmark, Japan and USA, which seeks to understand the role of a group of microbial peptides in the context of early life.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in studying diet-microbiome interactions by performing metabolomics analyses and analyzing nutrition, microbiome and metabolomics data from human studies. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in the supervision of the group’s Ph.D., Master and Bachelor students. The work will involve:
- Integration of diet, microbiome and metabolomics data
- Liquid chromatography mass spectrometry-based metabolomics
- Close interaction with other researchers, technicians and students affiliated to the projects
- Dissemination of results in the form conference contributions and scientific publications
- Teaching on nutrition, microbiome and metabolomics courses depending on interests/expertise
The candidate we seek
- Has a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, metabolomics, human microbiota, nutrition or other relevant areas
- Has demonstrated expertise in omics data analyses, for example with metagenomics and/or metabolomics
- Has an excellent publication track record (or equivalent experience) and strong scientific drive
- Is motivated by both personal and team accomplishments
- Thrives on multidisciplinary collaboration and is curious and open-minded
- Has experience and a proven track record of successful collaboration in diverse research environments
As a formal requirement, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). Experience with human nutritional intervention/cohort studies is favorable, but not a requirement.
