Responsibilities:

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. This is a unique opportunity to be part of Amgen’s R&D Postdoc Program at Amgen’s headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California. Postdocs will join an academic-style lab to train under Dr. Peter Scacheri, Executive Director of Discovery Biomarkers, and Dr. Andrew Holland, Director of Oncology Research.
The Discovery Biomarkers group at Amgen is seeking a creative and motivated postdoctoral fellow to explore the potential of exploiting the factors that mediate epigenetic activation of transposable elements in colon cancer as a novel therapeutic avenue, with the aim of pioneering groundbreaking approaches in biomarker identification and cancer treatment.
In this vital role, you will collaborate with scientists in Discovery Biomarkers and the Oncology Therapeutic Area to conduct cutting-edge independent research aimed at modulating select proteins that control the activity of oncogenic transposable element programs.
The position is for 3 years, with the option to extend for an additional year. Successful candidates will have access to Amgen’s cutting-edge technologies and innovation and be expected to make exciting scientific contributions to the field, present at scientific conferences, and publish their work. Postdocs will be a part of the broader R&D Postdoc Program that focuses on training the next generation of industry scientists. An overwhelming majority of our postdocs go on to advance their careers in the industry at leading pharma and biotech companies, including many at Amgen.
