Responsibilities:
We are seeking to appoint two talented structural biologists/protein biochemists (CryoEM and/or cellular imaging) to join the Newstead Lab to drive our research in understanding the molecular mechanisms underpinning cellular trafficking within the secretory pathway. The lab undertakes a multidisciplinary approach spanning structural biology, biochemistry and cell biology to address our research questions from molecular mechanism to cellular phenotype. The successful candidate will perform experiments encompassing membrane protein purifications for structure-function studies, combined with biophysical and biochemical characterisation and cellular imaging using state-of-the-art tools and resources. These posts provide an outstanding training opportunity for candidates with a passion for tackling complex scientific problems with curiosity and creativity. The lab provides an inclusive environment to empower lab members to express themselves, propose novel ideas and give actionable feedback. In addition, lab members will be provided with guidance and tools to maximise their potential and advance in both their professional and personal development.
These full-time fixed-term posts are funded by the Wellcome Trust up to 31st March 2025 in the first instance.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
