Description:
The NIHR has funded an innovative programme of research, led by Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed, to personalise renal (kidney) function monitoring for patients with heart failure (RENAL-HF). This aims to change healthcare for thousands of patients with heart failure by reducing kidney damage, enabling them to live longer, healthier lives. Previously we have used electronic health records to identify factors associated with renal impairment in patients with heart failure and model how renal function changes over time. This project aims to extend and refine this model, providing an evidence-based system for generating guidelines to personalise renal function monitoring for patients. We will test whether this can reduce hospital admissions and improve the health of patients in a randomised controlled trial.
This post will suit a researcher who has experience of qualitative/mixed methods research in a healthcare or related environment. Working with patients, primary care practitioners and specialists, the post-holder will gain experience in co-creating a clinical pathway to improve care for patients. The post holder will benefit from excellent opportunities to hone their research skills in a supportive environment, with a strong multi-disciplinary team committed to research excellence and working towards improving research culture. We are committed to public involvement in research and ensuring that our research includes diverse groups and under-served communities.
The post holder should have a PhD degree (submitted or awarded) or equivalent experience in a relevant area of health services research, health and social care research, or other relevant fields.
