Description:
Classification: Academic Level A/B
Salary package: $80,914 - $124,903 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Term: Full-time, Fixed term (up to December 2026)
Responsibilities:
- A PhD (or awarding of a PhD within six months of appointment commencement) in climate science or a related area, with a track record of independent research as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.
- Experience in paleoclimate research is desirable, but not essential.
- Experience in laboratory analyses of paleoclimate samples (and in particular ice samples) is desirable, but not essential.
- Experience in scientific coding for analysis of climate/paleoclimate data is essential, including a demonstrated ability to work with large gridded and/or multiproxy datasets.
- Ability or willingness to assist in the supervision of students working on research projects.
- Ability to solve problems and work independently as part of a team, and to meet deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written English language skills are required, and an ability for effective science communication to a range of audiences is desirable
