SALARY ACCORDING TO GERMAN TV-L E13
We are seeking a trained and highly motivated scientist holding a PhD or MD degree and having experience in biophysics, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology or similar disciplines. The postdoctoral fellow will join the Institute of Physiology II, University of Muenster, Germany, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Linke. This research group is world-renowned for its work in determining the importance of the giant protein titin under healthy conditions and in failing muscle/heart.
The successful applicant will join a diverse, dynamic, and international team of both experienced and junior researchers with many national and worldwide collaborations and a history of high-quality research output (for recent examples, see Loescher et al., Nature Cardiovascular Research 2:991–1002, 2023; Fomin et al., Science Translational Medicine 13:eabd3079, 2021; Swist et al., Nature Communications 11:4479, 2020; Krysiak et al., Nature Communications 9:262, 2018).
For further information / informal inquiries please contact Prof. Wolfgang Linke, T 0251 83-55540.
The position is intramurally funded (100% TV-L E13) and available from August, 2024, for 3 years initially, with the possibility of extension after positive evaluation. Experimental work will be done within a research project focusing on the role of titin in the heart. The project also uses mouse and cell culture models to study how cardiac structure and function are altered depending on titin properties in health and heart disease. It offers the possibility to optain a postdoctoral lecture qualification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should be highly motivated and have obtained a PhD or MD degree in physiology, molecular cardiology, cell biology, biochemistry, biomechanics, or a related field. Applicants should be able to present research that they have carried out, and to strive towards publication of their research in scientific journals as well as to aquiere their postdoctoral lecture qualification. While a high level of English competency is required, the post also involves teaching to medical students; therefore, knowledge of German language or willingness to become fluent in German is mandatory.
