Description:

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Nature and Human Health and Wellbeing. The researcher would conduct innovative research exploring the relationships between exposure to nature/biodiversity and human mental or physical health, as part of a multidisciplinary team. The exact nature of this research is not specific: we welcome applications from a broad range of disciplines, including the natural, social and medical sciences and the humanities. Interdisciplinary approaches are particularly welcome.
Example topics include research on the mechanisms by which nature exposure benefits health, use of geospatial data to look at the relationships between green space access and public health, and research into how nature exposure in schools affects wellbeing outcomes. The researcher is expected to shape their own research agenda within this theme while also being part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team across many departments.
The post holder will be part of the Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery and also of the Flourishing and Wellbeing Theme of the Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre.
As the PDRA (Postdoctoral Researcher), your main activities will involve managing academic research, including coordinating multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines and desired goals. You will also be responsible preparing manuscripts for submission to peer reviewed journals. You may also have opportunities to co-supervise Masters and PhD projects.
An open and collaborative nature and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplinary boundaries is essential.
The successful candidate holds a relevant PhD/DPhil in a relevant discipline according to the exact focus of research. You will have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings. Experience in research related to nature experience, biodiversity, climate change or a related area. A strong academic publication record concomitant with experience and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 7June 2024, and interviews will be held in Mid- June
