Postdoctoral Researcher in Peatland Biogeochemistry - Grade 7

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on the recently funded project: ¿Defra Lowland Peat Project 3: the options, feasibility and impact of managing lowland peat for reduced greenhouse gas emissions.¿
You will be involved with a work package focused on drainage ditches, greenhouse gas emissions and water quality, as well as sampling and analyses of peat core chemistry. The work will seek to understand how lowland peat land cover (e.g. cropland, grassland, rewetted) and management (e.g. raising water tables) affect water chemistry and ditch greenhouse gas emissions and, in turn, the relevance of these emissions at the landscape scale.
You will work at numerous sites across the UK, including in East Anglia, Somerset, Shropshire, Cheshire and Lancashire.
The position will involve extensive fieldwork duties, frequently with overnight stays, and you should be comfortable working alone in the field, often in inclement weather.
You should have a PHD in biogeochemistry, aquatic ecology, or related field.
This post is available on a fixed term basis until September 2025.
Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award
