Description:

For our Tissue & Cell Research Center in Martinsried, a preclinical R&D unit specialized in innovative research using human tissue and cell-based models, we are seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position of a Postdoctoral scientist (m/f/x) – Complex in vitro models for oncology research. This role is a limited role for 2 years.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Doctor’s degree in Life Sciences
  • Profound experience with complex in vitro models, assay development and validation
  • Hands-on laboratory experience and broad expertise in tissue processing, primary cell isolation and culturing
  • Broad expertise with tissue and cell-based read-outs (e.g. flow cytometry, high-content imaging, immunohistochemistry)
  • Strong background in the (immuno-)oncology, cancer drug discovery and/or biomarker field
  • Strong interest in translational research
  • Excellent organizational skills paired with flexibility and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Intercultural competence – ability to work in a global environment
  • Strong team player, open minded, showing a proactive approach and accountability
  • Strong English skills in written and spoken; effective verbal communication skills in German

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and optimize human cancer tissue-based complex in vitro models for (immuno-)oncology research
  • Validate innovative fit-for-purpose models to assess the pharmacological activity of novel therapeutic agents
  • Conduct hands-on laboratory operations «at the bench» using human specimen and work in a team with research assistants/scientists
  • Introduce state-of-the-art technologies and maintain expertise in the field through literature reviews, attending relevant congresses and liaison with external experts in the field
  • Document, evaluate, interpret and present preclinical study results within given timelines
  • Closely collaborate with scientists at TCRM and in the R&D Center in Tokyo and provide scientific and technical support for colleagues
  • Prepare and review reports and protocols to ensure the quality and integrity of data
