Description:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to safety use small hand and power tools
  • Must be able to read and interpret Drawings and Bills of Material
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with other team members
  • Ability to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written, and to communicate instructions to others in a clear, professional and respectful manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently without constant supervision

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development required
  • 2-4 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • 1-2 years’ experience working as a painter or powder coat operator
    Physical Demands: (The work is classified as Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Dept of Labor’s Dictionary of Occupational Titles) Frequencies: Occasional (1-33%); Frequent (34-66%); Continuous (67-100%)

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis floor to waist
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis floor to chest
  • Carry up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis up to 25 feet
  • Push/pull up to 100 lbs on an occasional basis

Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload parts or product onto fixtures
  • Prepare parts for coating
  • Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application
  • Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers and booth systems
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects
  • Determine paint flow, viscosity and coating quality by performing visual inspections or by using viscometers
  • Bake parts at appropriate temperatures within time limitations
  • Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with company established goals for quality before passing on to the next operation
  • Perform proper cleaning and daily maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of powder coat operations tasks as needed
  • Inspect all work and ensure it meets requirements prior to passing it on to the next operation
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms
