Description:

Overview:
Powerplant (Engine) Repairer performs maintenance tasks on AH64E, UH-60M, and AH-6i aircraft powerplants as needed, utilizing OEM Operators Manuals, Maintenance Test Flight Manuals, Check List Manuals, and relevant directives. Conducts maintenance and repair of major assemblies, subassemblies, and line replaceable units (LRUs) for powerplant systems (engines and auxiliary power units). Tasks include removal, disassembly, repair, rigging, reworking, reassembly, installation, modification, adjustment, testing, and preservation of powerplant systems, subsystems, and components in accordance with directives, technical manuals, and safety protocols. Conducts inspections, troubleshooting, fault detection, fault isolation, and appropriate AVUM/AVIM corrective actions on powerplant systems. Operates and maintains ground support equipment, identifies, uses, and maintains common, special, and precision tools for powerplant maintenance and repair. Provides MNG OJT training as needed, ensuring all maintenance operations are executed safely.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures powertrain maintenance functional activities and procedures among designated organizations are planned, coordinated, integrated, and synchronized to achieve established platform operational readiness (OR) rates IAW contractual requirements.
  • Responsible for the compliance with established maintenance systems, processes, procedures and reports that provide immediate situational awareness of platform OR rates.
  • Establishes daily maintenance operational goals, objectives and priorities for implementation in-order to achieve stated OR rates.
  • Works within the maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Directs inquires, investigations, and research analysis related to aviation maintenance of Aircraft and supporting maintenance activities to the Production Control Manager
  • Responsible for completion and maintenance of applicable forms, records, and reports using appropriate references and other publications of The Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS).
  • Maintain accountability of property in the Powerplant Shop.
  • Perform cleaning, preservation, and operational maintenance work on assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned and or directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma required; Associates degree preferred.
  • Graduate of a US Military aircraft powerplant maintenance course or civilian equivalent training.
  • Experience:
  • Five (5) years’ experience as an aircraft powerplant mechanic required.
  • Must have demonstrated, hands-on working knowledge of GE T700-701 series and Allison 250-C30 series power plant systems and subsystems.
  • Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft related documentation.
  • Proficient in MS Office software.
  • Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Possess a valid US issued driver’s license and passport.
  • Successfully pass an overseas deployment physical upon hire.
  • DD214 required for military experience.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a military maintenance unit.
  • Strong knowledge of military logistics procedures and regulations.
