WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Mandatory requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Three (3) to ten (10) years of experience designing high-frequency, high-efficiency “Full Bridge” power supply and printed circuit boards (PCB)
  • Good understanding of electronic circuits and Ultra-high efficiency EPC design using synchronous rectifier MOS transistors (eGaN preferred) with PCB design experience
  • High frequency power supply above 200 kHz (up to 1 MHz desired)
  • Use of MOS transistors insensitive to radiation (preferably eGaN)
  • Design of low-cost, discrete, high-performance isolated gate driver circuits for MOS transistors
  • Knowledgeable about PCB manufacturing processes
  • Experience in conducting analyses (FMECA, WCA, EMC, power budget analysis, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable about part types and at ease with datasheets
  • Knowledge of space radiation effects on parts is an asset
  • Lab experience with electronic circuits and laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscope, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, arbitrary waveform generator
  • Proficient experience in schematic entry (ex: Mentor Xpedition, PADS, OrCAD)
  • Knowledge of satellite design requirements (radiation, high reliability)
  • Pro-active, enthusiastic, and result-oriented team player
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in English and French is an asset

Why join us?

  • To acquire experience in different critical industries and projects while working for the same company;
  • To have a competitive salary and a great benefits package (dental, life and medical insurance, RRSP matching, sick days, vacation);
  • To access trainings that focus on expanding your knowledge while staying up to date with cutting edge technologies and best practices;
  • To have a clear career development plan that suits your goals;
  • To have the possibility of working abroad through our mobility program thanks to our international presence;
  • To join a dynamic, specialized and fast-growing group where communication is key and where every team member is valued;
  • To be part of a team where having fun is essential (team building events, 5 à 7, Marathon and more!).

Responsibilities:

The Power Electronics PCB Designer will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of hardware designers working on the design, implementation, and validation of Power electronics Printed Circuit Board (PCB) used in satellites and other space-based systems. This may include applications such as motor drive units, DC power systems, Digital-Analog Telemetry, and associated control circuits for space applications using new space technologies.

In this project, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Apply the different aspects of power electronic circuit design for the space environment under the supervision of a senior technical authority
  • Convert requirements into a board design concept
  • Complete the schematic capture level design
  • Manage design layout constraints definitions
  • Perform design simulations (LTSpice, BoardSim) and various design analyses (ex: worst case, FMECA)
  • Support and review parts placement and PCB layout
  • Prepare Material list and assembly drawings
  • Oversee parts managements including long lead items, bill of materials, and parts qualifications for space
  • Assist the preparation of detailed review documents
  • Respect Design for Manufacture/Test in the space environment
  • Interact with various specialties (structure, thermal, packaging, manufacturing, quality assurance, etc.)
  • Provide manufacturing activity support for the electronics PCB and unit assembly as well as testing activities
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of EPC boards and units
  • Support environmental and functional tests
