QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in power system modelling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, or DIgSILENT.
  • Strong understanding of power system fundamentals, including load flow, transient stability, and voltage regulation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound engineering judgements.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in the energy industry, particularly in distribution network operations or planning, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and standards relevant to power system modelling and operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed models of power distribution systems using industry-standard software tools.
  • Conduct complex power system simulations to assess network performance, identify potential issues, and optimise system operation.
  • Analyse and interpret simulation results to provide insights into network behaviour and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering teams, operations, and planning departments, to support network planning and design activities.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on modelling methodologies, data analysis techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in power system modelling, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to ensure the implementation of state-of-the-art solutions.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience and reliability of the power distribution network.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation to effectively communicate findings, recommendations, and project progress.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of power system components and configurations to identify optimisation opportunities and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and team members on modelling techniques, simulation software, and industry developments.
  • Collaborate with external partners, research institutions, and industry organisations to leverage expertise and stay at the forefront of technological innovation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the modelling team and across the organisation to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
