Description:

OVERALL PURPOSE: To promote the continuous professional development, identification of training needs and training solutions for all student and staff groups within the In-Patient Unit working in partnership with educational lead colleagues across all clinical teams. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To develop and maintain a clinical competency framework for all clinical roles Develop in partnership with clinical colleagues and education leads, a training strategy across the department to champion a learning culture. To work alongside clinical staff to assess quality measures and technical skills, being visible on the ward throughout the week, leading by example in the promotion of high standards of clinical treatment and nursing care. To oversee the induction and training of new starters To support clinical placements, arranging induction programs, taking responsibility for the support and evaluation of students and other professional placements To oversee compliance with mandatory training To oversee Preceptorship program.
To ensure sufficient and competent Practice Assessors and Supervisors. To Support the roll out of resilience-based supervision for all clinical staff. To network with external educational institutions To support clinical career and recruitment initiatives To support the development of Apprenticeship roles e.g. Nursing Associates and Registered Nursing Degree Apprentices To develop and facilitate technical competency days to ensure the staff have the correct skills base required for their roles To ensure sufficient and competent mandatory skills-based learning facilitators.
To develop staff and student competencies in line with evidence-based practice To support staff with revalidation. To support the development and implementation of action plans to meet identified training needs during PDR process To support staff who are underperforming in partnership with clinical managers and Sisters supporting the development of clear improvement objectives to improve performance and be responsible for providing clinical feedback on progress against set objectives. To support the facilitation of Sage and Thyme training and Advanced Communication Skills. To participate in teaching and training internally and to external agencies/partners CLINICAL LEAD ROLE To contribute to strategic clinical workforce development planning.
To represent the organisation at strategic education groups across the locality To liaise with external providers to support applications and to enable funding opportunities. To develop and lead the productive ward model to drive up efficiency and quality standards To lead the symptom management portfolio and health care certificate education program To Chair quarterly organisational training and education meetings To support the Fylde Coast strategy for palliative care education To support clinical governance processes and clinical incident investigations and reviews as needed. To participate in reviews and support learning from clinical incidents. To participate in the development and review of relevant learning and education policies To audit against national benchmarks and undertake ad-hoc audits to demonstrate compliance with clinical and technical procedures To work across the multidisciplinary team to support the development of education resources at a local level, facilitating teaching on the rolling program To identify and participate in quality improvement projects GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES To maintain professional registration in line with NMC requirements for revalidation To be responsible for own learning needs and professional development.
