Description:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative psychologist to join a newly formed, multi-disciplinary team delivering a service to children and young people with chronic conditions. The post holder will become part of the Swansea Bay Child Psychology Department and will join multi-disciplinary colleagues in developing this brand new Recovery From Illness service. The post holder will be a senior and key member of the MDT which will also include paediatrics, physiotherapy, OT and dietetics. The post holder will be supported by the Lead for Paediatric Psychology, initially to undertake a review of the psychological needs of children with chronic conditions and families, and then to plan, deliver, review and evaluate the service.
This is a brand new service. The post holder will be a key member of the MDT, as well as developing, delivering and evaluating the psychology offer to the children, young people and families seen by the team. They will need to ensure the service is sustainable, delivers maximum impact from the psychology resource, meets the needs of children, young people, families, MDT colleagues and staff, and is able to be responsive to both the routine delivery of the service and to times when the psychological needs fluctuate. They will seek to evidence the value and impact of psychology.
The Child Psychology service is a fairly small but growing group of psychologists and psychological therapists. We are a supportive and friendly professional network who come together regularly for reflective practice, CPD business updates and sharing of good practice. The post holder will be expected to be part of this group contributing to child psychology wide initiatives and developments.
