Practitioner Psychologist ABUHB Learning Disability Directorate
ABUHB Learning Disability Psychological Services provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions across Gwent to adults with a Learning Disability. We have the reputation of striving for the highest standards of care through person centred models which focus on empowering individuals in their context.
Applications are invited for a motivated and compassionate Practitioner Psychologist to work in Torfaen CLDT. This is a full-time permanent post at grade 7/8A depending on experience. We welcome current trainees seeking a post on qualification in 2024.
Newport Community Learning Disabilities Team is one of five multi-disciplinary community teams that support adults with a learning disability who present with complex needs including behaviours that challenge and/or mental health difficulties. The team has a well-established multi-disciplinary model of working. Psychological Services have a valued role within the service. The Department is supportive, valuing every member.
Leading the provision of psychological interventions across the Torfaen borough: offering direct psychological assessment / interventions to service users and working with carers and stakeholders. Providing clinical leadership where appropriate and seek to improve the service whilst ensuring safe / effective clinical practice.
The post holder must have experience of working with adults with a learning disability who present with high levels of distress, demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with others and an ability to think systemically, whilst holding expertise in evidence based psychological approaches.
As you support others psychological well-being, our role is to support you. We are a supportive team, committed to continuing personal / professional development, clinical supervision / CPD. In striving for the highest standards of compassionate care, you have an opportunity to develop your clinical skills in PBS, forensic risk assessment, trauma / attachment (EMDR, DBT) pursue service development, evaluation / research opportunities. We have established links with the South Wales Doctoral Clinical Psychology course, host trainees, contribute to teaching and supervising trainee research. We are members of the local SIG, DCP Faculty of Learning Disability.
