Description:

Further information is available on You Tube via the QR Code and in the attached job description.
The High Acuity Response Unit (HARU) is a specialised unit within the QAS that provides advanced Pre-hospital care to severely ill or injured patients, under the direct clinical governance of the QAS Medical Director and supported by a team of senior medical specialists. HARU augments the clinical care provided by the QAS regions, Clinical Hub, and the broader QAS organisation to ensure high quality, patient centered care is provided to the Queensland community.
The role of the Pre-Hospital Care (PHC) Registrar is to assist the Medical Director with the development and delivery of clinical and quality assurance systems and processes to ensure the QAS remains at the forefront of Pre-hospital care delivery and innovation. The PHC Registrar will receive extensive training in all aspects of Pre-hospital care delivery and will be expected to participate in on-road responses with the HARU based out of Brisbane or the Gold Coast, as well as the QAS Clinical Hub.
This is a unique role within Australasia, providing comprehensive training in both the clinical and non-clinical aspects of Pre-hospital care. This is an opportunity for physicians planning a career in Pre-hospital care, retrieval medicine, or for those who have a special interest in the area. The PHC Registrar will also undertake training in conjunction with specialist Queensland Police Service Units, gain exposure to clinical coordination, be engaged in a Statewide Clinical Consult and Advice service for QAS clinicians, and be involved in quality assurance activities. It is expected that PHC Registrars will complete an audit or research project during this twelve-month term. The HARU role is currently accredited for training as a special skills post as well as a training site for the Pre-hospital elements of the Diploma of Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine. The QAS is a contemporary leader in Pre-hospital care and the PHC Registrars will contribute to the medical direction of the service to ensure it remains at the forefront
