Summary
The Pre-Sales Software Planner will partner with Sales, Service and SW Upgrades teams to engage with customers in a pre-sales planning capacity in develop detailed SW Introductory Implementation Plan Proposals and establish project and quote readiness.
Customer partners include both clinical oncology service line managers as well as Hospital IT teams. Introductory Implementation Plans (IIP) will be focused for Varian’s SW sales customers in North America, often requires significant complexity, qualification & planning efforts.
Projects to include upgrade implementing Varian software (such as ARIA, Eclipse, Interfaces, etc.) and any technology strategy available by Varian. Complex projects often integrate complex, multi-site to include multi-disciplinary oncology clinics integrate with Varian equipment and hospital IT infrastructure.
Levels of detail within the IIP range from high level presentations and diagrams to detailed documents including elaboration of phased approaches, timelines, work breakdowns, network diagrams, customer hardware requirements and customer readiness.
The successful Pre-Sales Software Planner will include client conferences partnering with Sales teams to represent Varian’s ability to implement software implementations that deliver high client satisfaction and minimize clinical downtime.

The ideal candidate understands best practices working through internal and external stakeholders around hand-off of documentation and knowledge to downstream Project Management and installation teams for successful implementation and execution.

  • Comfortable working with internal teams serving as a technology resource to develop complex Implementation Plans
  • Comfortable leading infrastructure-related discussions expanding to all clinical & IT levels, including the CIO & hospital executives
  • Experience developing trust with clients in a pre-project capacity, demonstrated through consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes and setting proper expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to host and manage conference calls remotely professionally and effectively.
  • Strong customer service acumen
  • Experience planning, managing, and troubleshooting deployment of software and IT infrastructure is desirable
  • Experience with implementing cloud solutions and virtualized server platforms is desirable
  • Experience with telecommunications is desirable
  • General knowledge of network design, security systems, software control systems, and server management is preferred
  • Knowledge of the use and deployment of software in a healthcare environment
  • Experience in oncology service lines is most desirable, particularly Varian products
  • PMP certification is desired
  • Experience developing System Topology diagrams with Visio to visually present a customer’s technical environment
  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: Outlook, Microsoft Project, Visio, Word, Excel, SharePoint & PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with 3- 5 years related experience
