Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining an accurate, efficient and data driven preference card system across multiple sites. Helps develop and adheres preference card accuracy, updates, and performs other related duties to decrease intraoperative expense and waste for the hospital system. Collaborates with service line clinicians and physicians to identify the resources and preferences for specific procedures, including surgical materials, equipment, instructions, and setup.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Graduate from accredited school of nursing preferred, will consider experienced graduate from Surgical Technology Program
Responsibilities:
Analyze data to identify opportunities for cost savings and reduce waste.
Clean up and maintenance of supply inventory on existing preference cards and creation of new preference cards in conjunction with surgical services leadership team.
Maintains crosswalk and other master file synchronization, as applicable.
Develops protocols for updating, eliminating, archiving, and/or consolidating preference cards when multiple exist through collaboration with clinicians, and physicians.
Works to identify wasteful use/return of supplies and limit unnecessary delays in delivery of common goods to the Perioperative environment.
Works with designated hospital clinicians, analysts and/or leaders to ensure accurate building, modification and synchronization of physician preference cards and inventory dictionaries.
Maintains effective communication with all customers.
Continually collaborates with sterile technicians, Perioperative leaders charge capture personnel, vendors and revenue integrity, & clinical information systems (eg; EPIC OPTIME).
New surgeon onboarding creation of new cards (creation of new cards; review supply and instrument requirements formulary and non-formulary).
Attends applicable Clinical Resource Management meetings and Surgical Departmental meetings as applicable.
Attends conferences and continuing education as applicable
Participates in departmental projects and provides expertise. Works with Perioperative Leaders and Perioperative Supply Chain Manager on all Perioperative Supply Cost management projects, including physical inventory counts, system implementations, product changes and product substitution initiatives
Position Qualifications Required :Required Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of surgical experience required
Technical skills – demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required
Knowledge of electronic medical record systems
Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills, and demonstrates comprehensive job knowledge
