For immediate consideration as a floating assistant in all age groups and you would like to gain your 420 hours volunteer time for a CDA, have your First Aid/CPR training, please send in your resume. You will be first in line to be considered for the next open position as a Teacher Assistant!

REQUIREMENTS

• The ability to pass State of Virginia background checks
• FBI - finger printing and background investigation
• Pass a drug screening
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend and stack school supplies as needed
• Ability to supervise children, help lead activities or projects and work in a group
• Flexibility in working with Teachers in all age groups as needed
• Flexibility in working with Administrators in various school projects/ events

1. Responsible for setting teaching environments, upkeep of equipment, maintain classroom supply and overall cleanliness of the center
2. Maintaining child individual cubby space, cots, personal property
3. Attend training seminars and conferences to maintain knowledge of child care advances and acquiring a minimum of 30 training hours per year
4. Effectively communicating with families and staff both oral and written communications.
5. Assist with monthly lesson planning using Learning Through Play Curriculum, Individualized planning and Enrichments
6. Documentation forms required for safety of children, their diapering needs and any accident/incidents
7. Maintaining all licensing requirements within the classroom, on the playground and on field trips.
8. Maintain/Mentor- Positive Discipline Policy, Emotional Intelligence, Spanish/ English Language and the Arts.
9. Teaching/ Mentoring/ Working with children in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of Early Steps Bilingual Preschool
10. Perform all tasks assigned by the Director or Assistant Director and the Lead Teacher
11. Most importantly treating all children, families, staff, volunteers and visitors with dignity and respect.
