PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • A strategic and multi-dimensional leader who has a strong track record leading an organization of similar size and scope.
  • The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in a public-facing role focused on building revenue and fundraising.
  • Minimum of ten years of senior management experience with key roles in a not-for-profit agency.
  • A highly respected management style. A collaborator who exudes confidence and humility.
  • Demonstrates ability to build relationships with leaders in the voluntary, private, and government sectors (including High Net Worth individuals)
  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role with fiscal oversight.
  • A creative and progressive thinker who leads with authenticity
  • A high performer who embraces challenges and responsibility for results
  • Superior talent management skills, including the ability to attract, build, engage, inspire, mentor, and develop people and teams.

TECHNICAL ATTRIBUTES AND EDUCATION

  • Ability to creatively mobilize resources
  • Philanthropic experience and proven track record as a development professional and leader with a strong track record of closing gifts of high net-worth individuals and corporations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to pursue through effective storytelling.
  • Demonstrated excellence and expertise in board relations and governance practices
  • Solid understanding of government processes and decision-making
  • Excellent planning, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • University degree. MBA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership, Revenue Development, and Cultivation of New Opportunities (65%)

    Takes a fresh approach to the development of new streams of revenue and works with the Director of Fund Development to champion opportunities.

  • Collaborates with the Board in the provision of leadership and strategic planning of resource development initiatives for the agency and participates with the Fundraising team at prospect development and cultivation meetings

  • Develops new opportunities, including strategic alliances with sister agencies and new partnerships.
  • Organizational Leadership, Fiscal and Administration (25%)

ACCOUNTABLE FOR LONG-TERM VISION AND STRATEGIC GOALS:

Provides overall direction and effective implementation of all strategic and annual plans

  • Works with the Board to develop a long-term vision and strategic goals and long- term financial plan, incorporating feedback from staff and stakeholders.
  • Implements the plan and monitors progress towards vision and goals recommending changes to the plan as necessary.
