KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

  • BTech Mechanical Engineering
  • Formal Pressure Testing Technical Certification
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience as a Pressure Test Technician in the Industry.
  • Good understanding of English and Mathematics.
  • Be able to work away from home for the company.
  • Keen interest in the Pressure Testing Environment.
  • Ability to work with others to achieve job goals.
  • Be able to communicate, read and write effectively in the English language.

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION REQUIRED

BTEC Higher National Diploma Certificate, Associate’s degree

QUALIFICATION

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:

Perform and oversee pressure testing of various pipes and equipment according to Company, Quality and Client standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARISED:

  • Conduct pressure tests on various pipe sizes and pressures.
  • Ensure all documentation is complete and signed off before testing.
  • Set up and adjust pressure testing equipment.
  • Monitor and document pressure testing charts, providing reports to
  • Quality personnel and management.
  • Read and interpret instructions, documentation, and engineering drawings.
  • Select appropriate equipment and plan test setups.
  • Coordinate with other technicians and allocate resources.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems, advising on corrective actions.
  • Lead the team when necessary.
  • Train and authorize new pressure test technicians.
  • Maintain and calibrate pressure testing equipment.
  • Deploy to offshore sites as required.
  • Learn additional disciplines such as Post Weld Heat Treatment.
  • Provide input on pressure testing inquiries.
  • Report cost-saving measures.
  • Follow management directions and perform related tasks.
  • Ensure safety and address hazards, maintaining tidy work areas.
  • Account for and properly store equipment and consumables.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and report accidents and near misses.
  • Comply with OHS ACT 85 of 1993 and other health, safety, environmental, quality, legal, and regulatory requirements.
