Description:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires a University Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and minimum and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Jurisdiction Classification Level 2 (JCL2) or higher with ability to reclassify parts
  • Experience with many different application tools (SAP, SharePoint, Office 365, Enovia, Database and Web based tools, etc.)
  • Master skillset with the Collins xClass classification system.
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of all aspects related to Global Trade compliance at Collins Aerospace
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with various levels of leadership within and outside of the Component Engineering Department.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to step back and look at the big picture of what is needed for the department and investigate other opportunities through innovation to accomplish goals.

Responsibilities:

In this challenging environment it is critical to maintain control of sensitive commodities and data. In this role you must be ready to step up to this challenge having primary Global Trade (i.e. export compliance) responsibility for supporting the Collins Aerospace Component Engineering organization. As part of the Component Engineering team, the Global Trade Engineer will be responsible for the department Global Trade procedure implementation, process improvement initiatives, communications, and other administrative requirements for export compliance. You will support the Component Engineering Software Development team to ensure tool compliance to Global Trade requirements. To be considered for this role you must possess the ability to establish close working relationships with the business unit representatives in the US and internationally. This is an individual contributor role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets operational strategy and plans for the Component Engineering Department functional teams regarding technology marking, technology transfer methods, international travel workflow, reporting and other administrative requirements for export or import compliance.
  • Project management and reporting on the Global Trade compliance of components and component tools.
  • Export Licensing (ITAR/EAR), Managing and drafting of export licenses, training, administrative activities.
  • Performs Export (Commodity, Technology/Technical Data, and Software) and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Classification determinations under US and non-US regulations.
  • Advises internal management or business partners on the implementation or operation of complex compliance programs to ensure business objectives are in compliance with all relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Assists with audits to assess the export/import compliance and assists in determining and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Reports directly to the Component Engineering, Supply Chain team with indirect reporting to Mission Systems Global Trade Associate Director
  • Acts as a mentor to the Component Engineering department on all Global Trade matters
  • Ensures all product/component classifications are completed in a timely manner to meet customer service level requirements.
