The Principal Advisor, Employment System Guidance & Engagement is a specialist position in MBIE that sits within the Employment System Guidance and Engagement team and contributes to the operation of Employment New Zealand and the employment regulatory system.
We are a small and highly engaged team of professionals who are passionate about fair workplaces and committed to helping people get employment settings right.
We effect change on the behaviour of employers and employees through fit-for-purpose system engagement and guidance. In doing so, we lift compliance with employment regulation and improve the treatment of workers, leading to good, productive workplaces.
NGĀ PUKENGA ME NGĀ WHEAKO E HIAHIATIA ANA - SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- An interest in fair workplaces.
- Experience in catalysing behavioural or cultural change.
- The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with, and influence, senior stakeholders across the world of work.
- A proven ability to develop innovative and people centric guidance, products and tools that communicate complex matters to people of all works of life.
- Background in a relevant technical field with a minimum of five years’ experience.

We are looking for someone who can help us demystify employment legislation and shed light on what good and productive working relationships look like.
If you like working with diverse groups of stakeholders and think you have what it takes to translate complex legislation like the Holidays Act and multi-faceted employment relationship topics into simple, polished, and engaging content then this role could be perfect for you.
You will use your relationship management expertise and experience to develop effective long-term partnerships with senior public & private sector stakeholders to improve our content and in turn improve their systems and approaches to employment practices.
