Job Description

BEING PART OF THE TEAM;

AECOM Heritage are an established heritage consultancy with offices throughout the UK. We are currently experiencing growth across our renewables, power and water markets, as well as carbon capture and alternative fuels. We work for clients such as National Grid, SSEN, Low Carbon, Severn Trent Water and Harbour Energy to name a few. Projects include Grid modernisation projects, solar farms, water transfer and pipeline projects as well as green ways and active travel schemes. The team comprises 26 heritage consultants with specialisms in archaeology, historic landscape and built heritage. We are specifically looking for an experienced professional who thrives in a collaborative team environment, willing to contribute to and lead on some of the country’s major infrastructure projects from a built heritage perspective – guiding and steering design teams delivering high quality work.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Built Heritage Consultant, to join our growing Heritage team in either Croydon, Newcastle, Bristol or Leeds. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about conservation work and who can demonstrate experience of engaging with and consulting a wide range of audiences to support complex projects.
The position involves delivering desk-based assessments and Environmental Statements on a range of projects, particularly in our growing renewables market. The candidate will also be expected to provide constructive advice on listed buildings applications and work within conservation areas and have the confidence to present these to statutory consultees. All work will require a knowledge and understanding of national and local historic environment policy and legislation and a proven track record of successful delivery is essential.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Undertaking research and site visits to inform heritage assessments and setting assessments
  • Preparing desk-based assessments and heritage statements
  • Providing optioneering and design advice to client teams
  • Working with the wider EIA team, preparing impact assessments, including Environment Statements
  • Undertaking statutory consultations and liaising with stakeholders via telephone, Microsoft Teams and via on site meetings
  • Undertaking on site monitoring visits and building recording
  • Listed Building Consents
  • Working independently and taking responsibility for programmes of work, conducted safely, and producing high quality reports
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team, liaising effectively with managers, consultants from other disciplines and other stakeholders as required
  • Project Management: Prepare and manage the production of bids using internal systems and operations, and assess design resources within the discipline
