This is a clinical psychology role within LTHTR. You will work as part of the clinical health psychology service and provide care to inpatients and outpatients within the medicine pathway. You will have the chance to develop skills working with a range of clinical groups with specialist supervision from our senior leadership team. An enthusiasm to learn and to develop, as well as excellent interpersonal skills for working with both psychology and multi-disciplinary colleagues, will be important for the role.
To provide psychological input within a specialised adult clinical health psychology service as part of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This will involve delivering care to people with different medical conditions during individual and group appointments across inpatient settings and outpatient clinics.
To provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation, intervention, advice and consultation on patients’ psychological and cognitive functioning to other health professionals, families and carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines.
To contribute to training as well as the audit, evaluation and development of the service as directed by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Head of Service.

Responsibilities:

To provide a specialised adult health psychology service to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust within Physical Health Specialities.
To specifically focus on providing care for patients with long term medical conditions.
To deliver highly specialist clinical health psychology care for inpatients and outpatients within the medicine pathway (cardiology, diabetes, gastroenterology, respiratory, surgery).
To provide highly specialist psychological assessment, intervention, advice and consultation on patients’ psychological presentation and functioning to other health professionals and carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and frameworks governing each clinical area.
To provide integrated multiagency care (inc joint appointments and supervision) to patients within the co-located living well together pathway.
To train and support MDT colleagues in psychologically informed care.
To routinely undertake research, audit and service evaluation projects. To contribute to the ongoing development of the care pathways.
To work in consultation and collaboration with the consultant clinical psychologist, clinical colleagues, and key stakeholders in the CBU
To work in both inpatient and outpatient areas and any other settings in which the service is appropriately provided.
There will be an expectation to work flexibly across the services overall as required and directed by the Head of the Clinical Health Psychology Service.
