REQUIREMENTS

  • University Degree in Engineering / Environmental science or Sustainability studies.
  • Post-graduate degree preferred.
  • Additional qualifications relevant to sustainability subject areas from GRI, SASB, ISO 14064 etc. is a plus.
  • At least 7-10 years of proven track record in delivering ESG & Sustainability services as a trusted advisor and thought leader.
  • Experience in project management and driving consensus among multiple stakeholders including senior executives.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and conducting qualitative research (e.g. effective survey design, stakeholder interview process, and credible data analysis).
  • Proven project and/or team leader, delivering service excellence over multiple concurrent projects (short and long-term).
  • Experience providing guidance, coaching, support and feedback on performance of team members.
  • Track record of strong collaborations including knowledge sharing of experience and information; supporting others in the pursuit of team goals.
  • Willingness to travel and work around US, Canada, and overseas (dependent upon project).

ABOUT THE ROLE

DNV - ESG & Decarbonization in North America is seeking a Principal Consultant to join our team. As a Principal Consultant you will have proven experience in project delivery and business development across sustainability, climate change, and corporate responsibility service areas.
This is an exciting role, and you will be leading the delivery of projects, ensuring service excellence for clients, developing, and maintaining new and existing relationships from day one, and playing an important role in the development of others within the team.
We help clients implement, improve, and demonstrate their commitment towards ESG, sustainability, and decarbonization throughout their operations and across their value chains. You will work on a wide range of services including sustainability, climate change, sustainable finance, ESG assurance, strategy, human rights. You will also get the real opportunity to win, lead, and develop our work with many of the world s leading companies and brands across a wide range of sectors as they set and pursue their ESG & decarbonization ambitions.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Proactively seek to identify customer needs, develop tailored solutions and sell these to new and existing clients.
  • Lead and communicate effectively with your project teams and clients.
  • Introduce services from your own/existing discipline(s) to new clients and new services to existing clients.
  • Carrying our independent assurance audits for clients Sustainability /ESG reports based on various reporting frameworks like GRI, SASB, TCFD etc.
  • Involvement in independent assessment / verification of client s sustainability indicators involving environment (Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 emissions), social and governance indicators.
  • Involvement in materiality assessments, impact assessments, review of stakeholder engagements
  • Support organizations in implementing TCFD recommendations, assessing climate-related risks and opportunities, and supporting them in preparing high-quality disclosures to enhance transparency and enable informed decision-making by stakeholders.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR DYNAMIC, SENIOR-LEVEL CANDIDATES WITH EXPERIENCE IN SELLER-DOER CONSULTING ROLES WHO:

  • Have a passion for and demonstrable experience in ESG, sustainability, and decarbonization (required)
  • Good understanding of ESG frameworks, such as GRI, SASB, UN SDG, UN Global Compact
  • Have a good understanding of GHG emissions/climate change reporting standards/frameworks such as: The GHG Protocol, SBTi, TCFD, and ISO 14064.
  • Relevant experience in ESG Assurance on various ESG disclosures in line with ISAE 3000 (revised) and / AA1000 assurance standard.
  • Knowledge of existing and evolving ESG concepts and practices across sectors/geographies such as: climate risk assessments; materiality assessments; Life Cycle
  • Analyses; ESG roadmap development; regional taxonomies for sustainable activities.
  • Deep understanding of the ESG market in the region.
  • Strong ability to rapidly understand evolving policy documents and frameworks e.g. changes in ESG regulatory landscape, SASB/TCFD, etc.
  • Excel in leading project delivery - delivering on-time, on-budget and achieving high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment
  • Are outstanding communicators, with excellent written, speaking, research and analytical skills
  • Are able to work within an international team, delivering high-quality written outputs within agreed time periods
  • Possess strong problem solving and data analysis skills, data interpretation skills.
  • Can maintain flexibility in work hours and work independently with minimal supervision.
