Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Electro-Optical (EO) Department is currently seeking a Cryogenics Systems Design Engineer with design and analysis skills, experience in cryogenics systems, component fabrication, and testing. Chosen team member will work with multi-discipline teams supporting military programs in the development and production phases of infrared sensor systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Physics, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 8 years related work experience
  • Experience in Thermodynamic and Heat Transfer Analysis
  • Experience in Structural Analysis
  • Working experience with Pro/Engineer and/or CREO
  • Experience with fluid, pneumatic, vacuum, cryogenics systems design, analysis, or fabrication
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Cryogenics System Design familiarity
  • Thermodynamic and Heat Transfer Analysis
  • Structural Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Pro/Engineer, CREO
  • Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO ANTICIPATE:

  • Design and analysis of high-pressure gas supply assemblies, Joule-Thompson coolers, Stirling coolers, Dewar design, Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) Hermetic vessels and sealing techniques.
  • Troubleshoot EO Cryogenic systems.
  • Work closely with components suppliers.
  • Prepare technical justification analysis reports.
  • This position is an onsite role.
