POSITION SUMMARY

CVS Health Digital is looking for hands-on, passionate people who want to join a high energy and growing team to make a difference in customers’ lives and who want to be on the forefront of digital innovation that aims to reinvent what a pharmacy and a health care company can be in the digital world. The Principal Development Engineer - Backend includes closely working with a team of engineers to drive delivery excellence, partner with business and other IT leaders to build digital assets, provide expert level support to resolve complex issues and provide RCA, identify gaps in systems in current digital eco system and provide solutions to enhance overall performance. All of this is critical to driving Digital growth and improving customer experience. This individual will collaborate with digital leaders, business partners, and IT colleagues to deliver business growth and great customer experiences that differentiate CVS in the market, while ensuring efficient, effective, and safe product development.

What we Expect of You:

• Experience in developing inhouse, technical solutions for Search, Product Catalog, Pricing and Promotion experiences and SEO
• Experience with programming languages/frameworks: Java, SpringBoot, Search, NoSQL Kafka,
• Provide technical vision, drive strategy around solutions, solve complex problems, and successfully execute across the domain
• Act as an executive technical leader across strategic efforts, leveraging partners, technical leads, and technical expertise to better inform processes and outcomes
• Act as a technical owner across strategic efforts involving the Cloud, backend solution, streaming, ML and more.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform
• Partner with technical leaders within CVS and the open source community and contribute to product strategy, frameworks, roadmap definition, and requirements-gathering
• Provide domain knowledge and engineering insight to guide early designs, accelerate project decision-making, and maintain close oversight of technical execution
• Promote reusability of API’s across various clients while offering configurations
• Encourage and maintain engineering excellence on the team to build reliable distributed systems that our customers can build their business on
• Become a trusted decision-maker for important projects with high technical or outcome risk
• Develop mindshare by collaborating and discussing ideas
• Plot and execute on the path from prototype to production for features
• Bring passion, energy and excitement to the team and organization
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deal with multiple priorities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of experience in systems analysis and application program development, preferably within an e-commerce environment
• 10+ years of experience serving as a Technical Lead of large software development teams
• 5+ years of development experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, SpringBoot, Search, NoSQL and/or Kafka
• 5+ years of experience within an Agile software development
• 3+ years of experience building Enterprise solutions and managing client requirements and technical solutions
• 3+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies; possess a track record developing in GCP/Azure or similar public cloud environment
• 2+ years of experience in a DevOps role working with various technologies like Kubernetes, Argo, GIT, Jenkins, Maven, JUnit, Docker, JMeter, Artifactory
• 2+ years of CI/CD Pipeline automation experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with Elastic Search or Apache SOLR, or similar search related technologies
• Experience with Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence (Vertex AI, Gen AI, GPT 3.5) modeling
• Familiarity with GraphQL/gRPC
• Hands on experience with cloud technologies/platforms, and/or CRMs
• Good understanding and working experience in IT Security best practices and other compliance standards such as ADA, HIPAA, PCI DSS
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; thrives working in a highly iterative, agile, and open team environment
• A strong business and technical vision and the ability to translate these in business and technical approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
• Knowledge/experience in the Healthcare space, B2C and/or B2B is a plus

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
