ABOUT THE ROLE:

Mackay Regional Council is at the forefront of urban planning and sustainable development, and the growth of the region. As a Principal Development Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating the engineering components of regionally significant and complex development applications whilst coaching and developing future leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and manage engineering and technical staff within the Development Planning and Engineering Program and provide mentoring and leadership across the Program;
• Provide input into strategic and operational processes;
• Implement and manage a dynamic, innovate and passionate team culture, with a focus on exceptional customer experience to the community and development industry;
• Undertake the preliminary review and allocate applications and referrals for assessment to staff, and review the assessment of operational works applications;
• Provide details engineering advice on development application and prepare input into information requests and conditions; and
• Liaise and negotiate on planning matters with internal and external stakeholders.
