Responsibilities:

The Principal DevOps Engineer leads the end-to-end development of product and platform services through collaborative build, release, maintenance and enhancement of product features to deliver high-quality services that provide fit-for-purpose, resilient and reusable services. The role combines software development activities and drives standard practices supporting system-controlled governance and automation throughout. It provides technical advice to the team and supports its platforms, maintenance and administration.

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for:

  • Drive and ensure the adoption of DevOps practises, continuous improvement, and performance metrics, providing coaching and professional development initiatives to align resources to deliver high-quality, efficient and compliant services and a positive customer experience.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to ensure the technological endeavours are aligned with the business endeavours.
  • Provide technical expertise to product development and platform solution design and work across product teams as part of the discovery process to foster a culture of collaboration and ensure optimum service delivery.
  • Design through consultation and implement approved processes (document and train).
  • Build, fine-tune and manage the software development lifecycle framework, applying best practice methodologies and industry-recognised standards to improve platform product quality, security and reuse and reduce operational risk.

Our ideal candidate will be able to build strong relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, be able to identify and balance competing roadmap, platform service and maintenance demands as well as hold knowledge of and keep up with best practice industry standards in a high volume work environment.
You will be comfortable in developing scripts (PowerShell preferred), and have experience delivering cloud based DevOps tools on either Azure or AWS. Experience delivering containerized workloads would be an advantage.
