Description:
The Estates Engineering team is responsible for providing a safe, comfortable and compliant Estate for students, staff and visitors. We set the standard for Engineering using specifications, policies, and procedures. We are involved in shaping and future proofing the University Estate as a key stakeholder in all Capital and Revenue projects. The Engineering team controls and manages all mechanical and Electrical assets across campus ensuring they are safe, serviced, and maintained in-line with current standards and legislation.
The Electrical team are responsible for ensuring that safe systems of work for all Electrical services on the University estate (whether Estates or Faculty owned) are adequate and fully adhered to by staff and contractors.
The team are also responsible for ensuring all Electrical records, reports, management procedures etc. are reviewed, maintained and updated and are compliant with current legislation and industry standards. The Team is regularly audited on Compliance including dates of inspection and certification.
Our teams consist of highly skilled and dependable Principal Engineers with expert knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical & Building services. Responsibilities:
The Principal Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the strategic leadership, smooth running of planned and cyclical Electrical Maintenance works and oversee reactive works whilst making sure all statutory compliance and legal provisions are met.
The successful candidate will provide senior leadership management to the directorate. You will participate and contribute to various cross organisation activities as and when required.
As the responsible Authorised Person, the post holder will be required to attend and take a lead in Electrical Systems Steering Groups, as well as attend Health and Safety panels and other relevant meetings as required within their area of specialisation or assign these to the deputy responsible person as required.
