We leverage our collective and diverse experience, technical expertise, and industry knowledge of structures and building enclosures, advanced analysis, code consulting, and applied science & research to deliver unrivaled, comprehensive solutions that drive superior performance. With more than 700 employees in nine office locations throughout the United States, SGH’s industry-leading teams constantly seek to advance the meaning of what’s possible.
We want someone passionate about technical leadership and business development
Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking a Principal-level leader to participate in the growth and development of its Engineering Mechanics and Infrastructure (EMI) Group in California.
SGH’s EMI Group is expanding the reach of its current technical strengths and to grow in new practice areas. As part of this process, SGH seeks to employ a nationally recognized technical expert with a proven business track record, that will assist in perpetuating SGH EMI success and advancing the growth vision.
SGH’s EMI Group provides leading-edge technology and performance-based engineering in a variety of mechanics and materials services that are directly responsive to project-based client needs. The areas of technical expertise of a SGH EMI Principal candidate would involve the application of structural mechanics, structural dynamics, computational mechanics, risk and reliability, and materials science to the evaluation, design, and repair of complex industrial, energy, and infrastructure facilities (e.g., electric power infrastructure, oil and gas, science and defense, space and aerospace, transit and transportation).
The Principal will have responsibility to develop business and deliver projects through client relationships, strategic marketing, project management, and technical expertise. He/she will market, organize, coordinate, and execute project assignments of various sizes which leverage the engineering skillsets of SGH personnel. This individual will lead, support, mentor, and train staff and will work in a team atmosphere that fosters technological achievement, business development, and collaboration with other SGH practice areas, while emphasizing a high-quality product. SGH Principals play key roles on professional committees and frequently contribute to journals and other technical publications.
Currently, SGH EMI has a strong and diversified presence in Boston, MA, a high-performing specialty team in Newport Beach, CA, and strategically located staff at other SGH offices throughout the US. The candidate would join SGH in a role supporting the SGH Newport Beach office yet could be remote from other US locations. The EMI team has the benefit of easy access to SGH’s national team of experts including high-end analysts, structural engineers, materials scientists, chemists, petrographers, wood technologists, and architects. The firm has an advanced in-house structural and materials laboratory and powerful computing capability.
