Pay: $140,000 - 175,000

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Principal Engineer at our design-build company, you will be at the forefront of innovation and excellence in delivering cutting-edge solutions for civil and railroad infrastructure projects. You will provide technical leadership and strategic direction, overseeing the design and execution of complex civil and railroad projects from inception to completion. Your expertise will help drive the success of our projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in civil, roadway, or railroad engineering and design, with a track record of successful project delivery in the design-build environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil, roadway and railroad infrastructure design, site drainage, construction, and maintenance practices, including but not limited to roadway geometry, track alignment, bridge design, and or signal systems.
  • Proficiency in Bentley or Autodesk software is essential, with a demonstrated track record of utilizing these tools effectively in previous roles.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project team members.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make informed decisions and implement effective solutions under pressure.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Provide expert technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative design solutions for civil and railroad infrastructure projects, optimizing safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of civil and railroad design-build projects, managing project teams, budgets, schedules, and resources to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and construction professionals to ensure seamless coordination and integration of design and construction activities.

Design Oversight:

  • Review and approve design documents, drawings, and specifications for civil and railroad infrastructure, including site civil design, drainage, tracks, bridges and other structural components, and transloading/unloading techniques to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to design teams, resolving complex engineering challenges and ensuring the feasibility and constructability of design solutions.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies, representing the company in meetings, presentations, and negotiations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their needs, expectations, and objectives, and delivering value-added solutions and services that exceed their expectations.

Quality Assurance and Risk Management:

  • Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of design deliverables and project outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and uncertainties, proactively addressing technical, financial, and schedule-related challenges to minimize project disruptions and maximize success.
