Principal Engineer (Conversions)

Opportunity Available!! Our leading client in the Automotive Sector is looking to employ a Principal Engineer (Conversions) to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Product design (include FEA, CAE, FMEA, technical drawing, etc.)
• Product Development schedule creation & Milestone management
• Ensure adherence to Conversions Partner rules and guidelines.
• Lead Design Reviews [DRBFM, Simultaneous Engineering] – Reoccurrence prevention
• Product Testing, Evaluation & Fitment (impact to vehicle, installation/user manual creation)
• Making clear evaluation plan for their development product
• Fire Hazard evaluation for wire harness design [Electrical Accessory Products]
• ECI (Engineering Change Instruction)
• Present to Management up to Exec level

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent
• Post grad qualification advantageous
• Minimum Five – Seven years’ experience with min. Three years’ experience in Product Development
• Proficient in CATIA Software (from V5 ~ above)
• Engineering Standards & Systems knowledge.
• Knowledge of interpretation of technical drawings.
• Understanding of Material types, strength, treatment methods, applications & performance
• Ability to read & understand basic electrical schematic drawings.
• Experience in component development, manufacturing, quality & evaluation processes
• Basic Regulatory knowledge [SANS, ICASA, CRAN, BOCRA]
• Design Review knowledge [Failure analysis, troubleshooting & counter measure]
• ECI knowledge [Planning, Implementation, Documentation management, Communication]
• Manufacturing In Process Quality control knowledge
• Problem identification & resolution
• Project Management for Part Development & reporting [Vehicle Development milestone]
