JOB SUMMARY

The team of Power, Control and Telecommunications comprises engineering experts for Electrical Power, Telecoms and Signalling. We are concerned about the long term operation, maintenance, renewal and enhancement of railways infrastructure. We support our Operations, Economic and Safety colleagues assuring a safe, economic and reliable railway.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role sits within the Directorate of Railway Planning and Performance, reporting to the Head of Train Control Systems.
The Engineering and Asset Management team is a key centre of expertise within the ORR for technical/engineering and is comprised of 20 people.
The main purpose of the role is to provide expert Electrical Power & Contact Systems engineering input to support all of ORR’s functions as a combined economic and safety regulator. In addition, the role provides asset management expertise and advice to other engineering disciplines on multi-discipline activities.
More specifically Electrical Power engineering encompasses; Power Distribution, Contact Systems, Signalling Power systems, Fixed Plant and other power related lineside assets.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree Qualified in Engineering or relevant Science subject.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Assembles and interprets a range of complex and technical information, from disparate sources of evidence, in a structured way, to inform decision making.
