Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Principal Logistics Engineer is responsible for leading and conducting logistics analysis and engineering work involving all aspects of transportation design.
Engineering work will include development of project scope & objectives, establishing engineering and/or modeling methodology & approach, formalization of realistic project timeline & project plan, direct supervision of engineering resources and third parties for the flawless execution of projects, performing risk management, managing the communication & relationship with customers (internal/external) and stakeholders, delivering superior engineering solutions in accordance with the approved project scope, objectives and timeline, documenting/presenting solution results to the customer and/or working with various groups at Penske Logistics to help implement the solution design.
They lead and conduct multiple projects or solutions concurrently. They have had experiences working on various teams, in different phases of the process with multiple customers and handle many project tasks and assignments directly, delegating as needed to other subject matter experts. These solutions might involve the use of multiple modes and service lines. They focus on design, develop or implement comprehensive supply chain solutions to solve complex supply chain initiatives or problems, for customers, development activities and request for proposals. They ensure stakeholder buy-in and facilitate regular communication to convey progress, through the successful completion of the project. They integrate appropriate logistics information and decision technology into engineered solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 to 7 years comparable experience designing, implementing and executing supply chain solutions.
  • Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint). Skills in MS Project and Visio a plus
  • Intermediate skills in transportation and network modeling/mapping tools.
  • Strong understanding of transportation, and supply chain concepts
  • Ability to analyze data
  • Analytical/problem solving capabilities
  • Developed expertise in translating data as well as extracting and utilizing data from execution systems.
  • Ability to devise technical engineering methodology/plan (created and documented)
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal, ability to interface directly with external customers

Responsibilities:
